Brianna Scott, LLPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
I believe counseling is a process of healing the mind and soul, with the goal of alleviating your symptoms. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. In our sessions, I will listen with the intent to see the world through your eyes. This will help me gain an understanding of who you are as an individual and how you operate in the world. I will pay attention to specific thought patterns which lead to behaviors you might deem unfavorable, and use holistic evidence-based techniques to change the thoughts, thus changing the behavior. I will want to know what meaning you have ascribed to your life, and how this meaning has helped you grow and develop into the person you are today. I may ask if you have any spiritual or religious preferences. In addition, I will try to make the office as comfortable as possible so that you will feel safe to share your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.
My philosophy is very holistic, and I value a mind-body approach. I plan on equipping you with tools that you feel comfortable using in order to help you sustain the positive changes that may take place in therapy. These tools might include relaxation techniques, informational worksheets, and easy self-care practices. It all depends on what you find most helpful or effective.
My personality and therapeutic approach allow me to be accessible to all ages. I am experienced in working with young adults and children (7 and up) with a wide variety of challenges. I am most familiar with relationship concerns, trauma, divorce, disordered eating, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
When working with children, I take a collaborative approach with the parents on how to best meet the child’s needs. I believe enhancing communication within the family system and providing guardians with support and tools is crucial to creating lasting change.
