Inspiring Conversations with Natasha Kendal of Kendal Clinic
Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Kendal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Kendal Clinic is a mental wellness practice that is a little different from others. We are committed to crafting a mental health solution that is perfect for you and your family. We believe that looking at each individual in isolation is overly simplistic and does not allow us to treat the entire family system, which is where most conflict and pain originates. As holistic and systemic therapists, we treat both the individual AND the systems in which they function. Our professionals collaborate not only with each other but also with all your outside providers, from teachers to physicians to other therapists – all with one goal: to bring you and your family the best formula for growth and mental well-being. When you enter our beautiful lake-front office, you will notice that we are centered on making your experience easy, comfortable, and effective. Our new client procedures are streamlined to prevent overwhelm, and our billing systems are precise and hassle-free to take guesswork out of paying for therapy. Most importantly, our therapeutic outcomes are some of the most trusted in Michigan. And, of course, we have also perfected the art of virtual counseling and medication management for those patients who prefer to access our services remotely. Our office is collegial, friendly, and happy. You will be amazed to hear laughter and chatter, both inside therapy rooms and outside of them. We encourage each clinician to maintain a healthy balance of work, family responsibility, self-care, and fun. We provide many opportunities for continued learning, growth, collaboration with other clinicians and create opportunities for everyone to seek continued self and company improvement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth as we would have liked. A few months after closing on a new building location, the pandemic hit. I was on Amazon picking out furniture for the office, and before I could check out, my sofas were gone. Everything was shut down. We found ourselves scrambling to make the necessary adjustments to the pandemic, from adjusting to telehealth session to finding furniture. We had an office but no furniture. Luckily, I knew of another office that was closing, and I was able to acquire their furniture just in the nick of time. It was unexpected, but we were flexible and made it work.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Kendal Clinic?
Our Clinic offers an Integrative Approach to Mental Health. Using a systems approach with mental health means we treat both the individual AND the systems in which they function. We have a holistic approach to mental health meaning in addition to talk therapy, we also offer medication management and outdoor therapy. We are known for our professional conduct and our friendly & effective clinicians. In addition, to talk therapy & medication management, our clinic IS offering a cutting-edge medication for Treatment-Resistant Depression called Spravato. This medication is FDA-approved, and some costs are covered by insurance, making this more accessible to those in need. Another service we offer is QB Tech Testing, which is an affordable ADHD test that provides objective data for clinical use. The QbTest provides an opportunity to improve our care model for patients struggling with ADHD by providing objective, tangible results for a more comprehensive ADHD evaluation and treatment management program.
We also help patients who are struggling with their mental health medications. If you are a patient suffering from negative drug interactions, ineffective medication, or unwanted side effects, we offer a GENESIGHT test, which can reveal which medications require dose adjustments based on the patient’s DNA profile. The Genesight Psychotropic report categorizes medications according to the expected level of gene-drug interactions. This allows professionals and patients to make more informed decisions about their medications, reducing medication trial and error and shortening the road to recovery.
With all that we offer, the Kendal Clinic is committed to crafting a mental health solution that is perfect for you and your family.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The Kendal Clinic enjoys interacting with the community through volunteering events and hosting open houses. We collaborate with other Medical and Mental Health professionals to create a network of services that we can provide to our clients. We receive patient referrals from Pediatrician offices and other outpatient doctors’ offices. We are always looking to engage in networking events or create a list of referral providers that we can use to best support our clients.
